Goatsbridge Trout Farm, Kilkenny - Image via Goatsbridge Trout Farm
Though the Goatsbridge Trout Farm story actually began way back in 1180 (when local monks fished the abundant River Arrigle), today this sustainable trout farm in Kilkenny is run by husband and wife team, Ger and Mag.
Their focus is on organic and local sustainability, and as such, the farm’s fish beds are naturally filled and circulated using only the natural gradient of the land. Ger and Mag actually live on the farm with their family, and work hard to ensure this legacy of sustainability is carried on.
You can immerse yourself in the local area’s food and craft heritage on Goatsbridge’s Taste Trail, and find out all about the farm during a tour of the visitor centre and state-of-the-art production facility.
