Waterford County Museum is located in a heritage building on St Augustine Street, Dungarvan, County Waterford. The museum showcases the history of Dungarvan and district, and features displays on topics such as archaeology, maritime, World Wars 1 and 2, The Big House, sport, the War of Independence, and much more.

The Big House exhibition features paintings, drawings, photographs, vintage clothing, and links to West Waterford’s rich heritage of big houses such as Dromana, Lismore Castle and Cappoquin. In the sports exhibition area, learn about Ireland’s first cycling club founded in 1869 and see the Challenge Cup, awarded to the winner of Ireland’s first cycle race. In the archaeology exhibition learn about Dungarvan Castle, the Anglo Norman Motte at Gallowshill, and the Dungarvan Valley Caves.

Replica artefacts are freely available to be handled by the visitor and children are especially encouraged to handle the objects in the children’s area.
