Savour Kilkenny is now one of Ireland’s leading food festivals: food demos, healthy talks, exclusive dining events, incredibly talented chefs and food personalities are the festival’s main ingredients, a genuine celebration of Irish food culture.
Heading into this year’s 13th annual festival, Savour Kilkenny celebrates produce and food culture of Kilkenny and its surrounding rich pastureland. Savour takes place over the October bank holiday weekend at the end of Autumn and at the end of the traditional harvest season and draws tens of thousands of visitors. During the festival people can sample from dozens of artisan food stalls, watch live cooking demos by the most influential and talented Irish chefs, participate to workshops and talks held by international food personalities and food experts such as nutritionists and fermentation gurus.

Ballymaloe’s Rory O’Connell will entertain and inspire while cooking his favourite recipes from the recent RTÉ One series ‘A Long Weekend in...with Rory O’Connell’ (Saturday 26th Oct)
Catherine Fulvio will enchant the public with her passion and fuss free culinary flair while cooking up a storm with Kilkenny’s local ingredients. (Sunday 27th Oct)
Clodagh McKenna will create stunning recipes using only seasonal ingredients (Saturday 26th Oct)
And all the way from the Sunshine Coast, Australian Kim McCosker, author of “4 ingredients” cookbooks will demonstrate her clever concept which simplifies all forms of cooking by creating delicious recipes with only 4 ingredients (Sunday 27th Oct)
Vegan, ‘natural-born feeder’ Roz Purcell will prepare nutritional and healthy meals with easy-to-follow recipes (Saturday 26th Oct).
While chef and food writer Edward Hayden will cook up a storm with lovely Anne Neary, chef behind local Ryeland House.
There will be many other cooking demos both on Saturday and Sunday - don’t miss an evening of delicious food, inspiring talks and mouth-watering demos with international athletes David Gillick and Catherina McKiernan (Wednesday 23rd Oct).
During the weekend there will be a Wellness Stage at KBC Bank which will be packed with talks and workshops about healthy eating and nutritional wellness’ topics.
New for 2019 is the “Food Provenance Award”. As provenance is becoming an important trend in modern nutrition, Savour Kilkenny will challenge Kilkenny chefs & members of the culinary community to prepare delicious meals using only the finest of locally produced Kilkenny ingredients.
Special food events take place in local hotels, restaurants and eateries and these books up early every year as patrons seek a special night out from the informal to the five star. The festival also features the fast-growing brewing and distilling industry locally with a craft beer and spirit tent on the Parade and expert tasting events will also take place.
Other workshops will include beekeeping, essential oils experience and discussions about the future of veganism. While wondering around the dozens of delicious food stall, watch out for our local young environmental champions to green the festival.
